  1. Mr. Buddy Godbold, I saw you water Jug at the last meeting and would like to make one for my self. I need to know what you used for the for the mouth of the Jug. Also I would like to know what size PVC fitting and valve you used for the shop Vac. hookup.
Thank for showing it at the meeting. I have been to two meetings and have enjoyed them. See you at the next meeting thanks.

  2. at the last meeting we had a man show us a bee catching water jug, He had made, what I want to know is what did he use for the funnel at the end of the jug and what size PVC connections at the bottom. If you can not send me this information I will try to be at the next meeting and ask questions.

    1. That information was from Mr. Buddy Godbold. His e-mail is bngodbold@ftcweb.net. If he does not respond to his e-mail in a reasonable period of time, post back on here and I will text him and ask him to respond to your post. Happy Memorial Day. Great day to work bees, I have pulled 2 supers to extract.

  3. Great intermediate siminair today at Pike County Fair grounds. Thanks Mike Guice, Dr. Jeff Harris, Micheal Scheel, Pike Mastergardener club, Don Getty and sure i forgot someone -sorry. Very enjoyable and great learning experience.

Got home opened up 4 beehives. Some broodcomb between two boxes in 1 hive i had larvae exposed. Upon examination everyone had a varroa mite. Please advise what i should do now! No honey supers on them and am planning to split soon as my queen man calls me with the mated queens. Need advise or help.

    1. I have on hand some Mite Away strips that was given to me that is 4 or 5 years old at least. Should i follow bucket instructions and begin treatment of all my hives using this medication? Hive is strong that i identified the mites on larvae on today. Sure dont want to lose my bees.

      1. I don’t know what the shelf life is of the MAQS. I would say to go ahead, email Dr. Harris and then treat again in the prescribed time. This way something is better than nothing and it will buy you time to acquire more up-to-date treatment. Or you could treat with the oxalic acid using the drizzle method. This can be found as “wood bleach” at Ace Hardware stores.
        Hope this helps,
        Michael

Thanks for the kudos, glad you enjoyed the seminar. Hope to see you again.

    1. Doc,
I know the meeting is 2015/11/06-2015/11/07, it is supposed to be in Ellisville. I have not heard of any detailed information as to the host hotel and facilities. I got this date from the website of the keynote speaker.

  4. What a wonderful day we had at the Intermediate Class!!!! Great turn-out, lots of good information, good fellowship and laughs. Thanks Dr. Harris.

    1. Just yourself! I’ll pick up donuts on the way to the fairgrounds and we will get an exact count for lunch and make a grocery run.

  5. I need to move a a nest of bees from an old camper to a store bought hive. Can it be done this late in the year successfully? Thanks, Tony

    1. Tony, The short answer is yes. However, the interruption in the brood cycle and the lack of stores will significantly reduce the prospects of the colony surviving the winter. If you can wait until spring, you stand a better chance of success. If you do remove the colony, be prepared to feed extensively over the winter. Good luck.

  6. Sorry I missed again last night, little under the weather. Have a friend in Union Church with wild honey bee problems. Seems there is a hive about 13 feet up in his home. Attacked him while mowing a week ago. Would appreciate (and I’m sure pay) for any help he can get. Call me 601-384-6535 and I’ll give you his info if interested in helping.
